The developer of Water Street Tampa is officially taking reservations for the luxury condos atop the Edition Hotel.
Strategic Property Partners said Tuesday that its listing agent, Smith & Associates Real Estate, is now accepting reservation appointments for the 37 Edition residences on floors 10 through 27 of the tower. The hotel has 172 guest rooms. The condos will range from 1,821 to 7,177 square feet, with prices starting at $1.8 million. The units will also include large balconies, SPP said. Residents will be able to move in in 2021.
The Edition, which broke ground in August, is across the street from Amalie Arena, at the northwest corner of Channelside Drive and Water Street. Its significance extends beyond Water Street: It is Tampa’s first hotel-branded condos and the third Edition-branded residences in the U.S.
It is also the first condo tower to break ground in downtown Tampa in more than a decade. While several others are planned in and around downtown Tampa, the Edition is the first to begin construction — and it did so speculatively, without condo buyers committed to the units. Originally, SPP planned for the Edition to include 46 condos but reduced the unit count to 37 after focus groups revealed that luxury buyers want larger units.
The Edition will also include restaurant and entertainment spaces, including a lobby bar, lounge, market and entertainment venue — all of which will be curated by the Ian Schrager Co. Schrager, who developed the EDITION flag with Marriott (NASDAQ: MAR), is considered the creator of the modern boutique hotel.
It is the second Marriott property under construction in Water Street and the hospitality giant’s third hotel within the mixed-use district. The 26-story JW Marriott has topped out on what was previously Amalie Arena’s silver lot; the Tampa Marriott Water Street, built in 2000, is wrapping up a $50 million renovation.
