Hidden Gems of Tampa

Lolis Mexican Cravings was not the only place to get an honorable mention in the New York Times’s latest piece on Tampa. With so many well-known places to visit, dine, and explore, the NYT decided to highlight the hidden gems our city has to offer.

So what does the celebrated paper think people should check out?

For starters, Dave Seminara shares the history of our beloved city and highlights the educational Henry B. Plant Museum before jumping ship. Or rather — jumping to ships. Check out the article to see all the different boats mentioned and to read what he had to say about the legendary José Gaspar. (If that does not sound familiar, think Gasparilla.)

Next, you can read about our very own Buddhist temple, Wat Mongkolratanaram, which hosts a weekly Sunday morning Thai market. What a fun and unique thing to do! Make a point to check it out if you have not already.

Closing out the piece, Seminara mentions the rich history of Ybor City, naming it the best place to check out Old Tampa, spring training, and great places to grab a bite. Even if you have lived here for a while, it is worth a read!
